Kediri is a working town rather than a beach village. It is the administrative center of Kediri district, which reaches from the coast at Tanah Lot and Kedungu to the town inland, and the town itself is Desa Kediri. The main Denpasar–Gilimanuk road runs through it and gets congested with holiday traffic. Population growth in Tabanan regency has been concentrated in Kediri and the regency seat, linked to new housing.
Away from the main road, rice fields still lie between the settlements. Just north, in Banjar Anyar, the regency's Subak Museum explains Bali's shared irrigation system. The nearest beach, Kedungu, is about 25 minutes away by motorbike outside rush hour, by our estimate, and Green School is about as far. Kediri suits people who want a local town base, work in Tabanan or want to be near the district's offices. If you want to live by the sea or reach the airport quickly, the coast or Badung is a better fit.
